Top Forex Brokers :Rate Decisions, US Jobs and Earnings
Monetary policy, US economic data and corporate earnings will be among the main themes for financial markets this week, alongside the US midterm elections.
The Reserve Bank of Australia and Bank of England are expected to announce interest rate increases, while October’s US employment report and earnings from Apple and AMD could influence market sentiment.
US Stock Market
US stocks will be in focus as investors assess the 3 November midterm elections and upcoming corporate earnings.
According to Morgan Stanley Wealth Management’s latest survey, 48% of retail investors are concerned about the elections’ potential impact on equities.
Apple’s quarterly results will provide an update on iPhone sales, the company’s expectations for the holiday quarter and developments in production costs. Meanwhile, AMD’s earnings will provide further insight into demand trends and business conditions across the semiconductor industry.

RBA Interest Rate Decision
The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) is expected to raise interest rates by 25 basis points to 4.85% on 3 November, potentially reaching their highest level since 2008. The decision is due at 05:30 GMT+2, followed by a press conference at 06:30 GMT+2.
Higher rates would increase mortgage costs, potentially pushing repayments on a median-priced home to their highest share of household income since the late 1980s.
With the increase largely priced in, traders will focus on the RBA’s inflation outlook and signals regarding further tightening, which could influence AUD movements.

BoE Interest Rate Decision
The Bank of England (BoE) is expected to raise interest rates by 25 basis points to 4.00% on 5 November at 14:00 GMT+2, its first increase since August 2023.
Rising energy costs and persistent inflation have reinforced expectations of tighter policy, although the BoE may adopt a more cautious stance.
Traders will also examine the Monetary Policy Committee’s voting breakdown, meeting minutes and quarterly Monetary Policy Report for further policy guidance.
US NFP and Unemployment Rate
The US employment report, due on 6 November at 15:30 GMT+2, will provide an update on October’s nonfarm payrolls (NFP) and unemployment rate.
September’s figures showed just 29,000 new jobs, below expectations, alongside downward revisions totalling 60,000 for July and August. Unemployment also rose from 4.1% to 4.2%.
The latest figures could influence Federal Reserve interest rate expectations and generate volatility in the US dollar.
